An application to convert Horsham’s Linden House from offices into 65 apartments has been submitted to Horsham District Council.
Planning permission to demolish the vacant offices in Chart Way and build a block of 80 new apartments was refused by the council in October 2013. Councillors described the design as ‘ugly’ and many said it would be a ‘blight’ on the town.
A previous application for a change of use from commercial to residential for the former RSA building was refused permission in 2013 due to a lack on information on highways and contamination.
The property changed ownership last month.
The planning statement, available on HDC’s public planning portal, reads: “The application if approved, will provide a viable and vibrant use for the building, bringing it back into usage and renovating its appearance externally (eg cleaning and repairing) without ‘material’ change in planning terms, and dramatically transforming its physical state internally.”
Around 90 per cent of the flats would be studio or one bedroom units.
