Hundreds of runners gathered in Horsham Park last Saturday as the global ‘parkrun’ phenomenon came to the town.

The free timed 5k runs take place in various parks across the world and Horsham’s first-ever run saw 365 athletes turn out at the weekend.

Horsham Jogger Neil Boniface led the runners home in 15min-49 second to win the maiden race, while Amicia Lee was the first female to complete the course in 22-45.

County councillor Morwen Millson got the runners under way on the winding course around the park’s pathways amongst morning park-goers.

More than 33,000 events involving upwards of 533,000 people have currently taken place across the UK.

The event in Horsham Park will now take place every Saturday as 9am.

It is free to take part, to register, and for more information, visit parkrun’s website.
