Samaritans of Horsham & Crawley were delighted to welcome Jeremy Quin MP to their collecting team on Saturday March 5.

Although the bitingly cold weather kept many people indoors those who did venture out donated a very generous £808 to the local branch.

Jeremy said how touched he was by the number of people who said they had been helped in the past by contacting Samaritans.

New branch director, Roger Dugdale, said: “We are very grateful to Jeremy for giving up his time to help us and especially grateful to all those who generously donated to us on Saturday.

“Our branch is responsible for all its own funding and this will help us enormously in keeping our service open for our callers.”

Samaritans vision is to reduce the number of deaths by suicide. Their new free to call telephone number, 116 123, is part of this vision.

Those who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress and heartache can phone free on this number from landlines, mobile phones or call boxes from anywhere in the UK but locally can also visit the Horsham & Crawley branch at 21 Denne Road, Horsham or text on 07725 90 90 90, or email jo@samaritans.org.
