Howie the Hornet, the mascot of Horsham Football Club, has helped to raise up to £4,000 for the BBC’s Children In Need appeal.

In an event arranged by Horsham Rotary Club and filmed by BBC television cameras, Horsham FC’s cuddly ambassador was joined by Pudsey Bear, Woking FC’s KC Kat and other mascots in walking around Gatwick Airport’s North and South terminals collecting money and entertaining onlookers with their antics.

There was a tea party for a number of children with disabilities and their families with entertainment from Dave Benson-Phillips, and Howie said great fun was had by all.

Early estimates suggest that between £3,500 and £4,000 was raised for the charity on the day.
