A Horsham cyclist died after collapsing in the road south of the town on Saturday October 4.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said the 53-year-old man collapsed in Tower Hill, off Worthing Road, shortly after 10am.

Paramedics, members of the public, and an off-duty doctor tried to resuscitate the cyclist, but despite their best efforts he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed near its junction with Christ’s Hospital Road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of the cyclist’s death.

Anyone who saw what happened and who has not yet spoken to police is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Mendip.
