Fans of Hallowe’en will have plenty of reasons to visit Horsham town centre over half term week as Horsham District Council, Horsham Markets, the Rotary Club of Horsham and their many partners, pull out all the stops to make this a Happy Hallowe’en for all.
On Saturday October 27, Horsham’s Halloween Party, with themed markets, live music and all manner of ghoulish fun, will take place in Horsham town centre from 9am to 5pm.
The bandstand in the Carfax will be decorated by partners Non Stop Party Shop and will host a storytelling witch for children and local group performances from 10am, before giving over to a special Halloween programme of music from 2pm put together for Horsham District Council by the Festival of Sound.
Elsewhere, the Carfax Local Produce Market will be themed for the day. Look out for the traders’ own pumpkin competition with themed items from a number of traders.
A ghostly white spooky piano and pianist, sponsored by Pret A Manager, will roam the town in search of willing victims, no sorry, audiences.
Another new feature this year is the Ghoulish Ghost Bus, sponsored by Harper James estate agents and Sainsbury’s, located in the Carfax opposite The Crown pub, which for a small charge will offer children the chance to carve and decorate their own pumpkins ready for Halloween.
Scary faces will be being painted by regular favourites, Busy Days, on the mosaic in Swan Walk shopping centre.
From 3.30pm, everyone is invited to enter their own decorated pumpkin in a competition near Panino’s café in the Carfax to find the town’s best decorated pumpkin. Look out for more details soon.
The ever popular Rotary organised Trick or Trick competition trail around local shops runs all week from Saturday 27 October with cash prizes for the winners.
A new alliance of local businesses will be supporting the Horsham District Community Safety Partnership, which will be promoting a ‘have fun responsibly and safely’ message direct to ‘Hallowe’eners and Fireworkers’ over the half term period.
The Old Mill traditional funfair rides and market stalls return later in the half term week, starting on Thursday 1 November to Saturday 3 November this year, located in the Bishopric around the Shelley Fountain.
