A RAFFLE by the 50-plus group at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre raised £320 for Help the Heroes at their annual Christmas dinner.

The group, which runs a range of sporting and leisure activities for people over the age of 50, last Thursday held its Christmas party at the centre.

Members are fearful for the future of the group if Horsham District Council closes the centre.

Organiser Marilyn Humphries said: “For the past three years we have held a raffle and this year we raised money for Help the Heroes.

“There were about 60 people there and we had 51 prizes. Our daughter did a Christmas cake and it raised £60.

“It was tremendous and if they take the centre down we will be devastated.

“There’s so much activity there and it’s a community. The 50-plus group is a lifeline for people.”
