A SCOUTS’ group and the county’s only children’s hospice are two of the 12 organisations recently supported by one of the district’s housing associations.
As part of the Horsham is Great campaign, The County Times is featuring community groups which are doing work to benefit others.
Saxon Weald, which manages social housing across the district, is awarding to voluntary and not-for-profit groups of between £325 to £1,000.
At an awards evening held at The Capitol in Horsham last week, £1,000 was presented to Chestnut Tree House in Arundel and £900 to the Orion Explorer Scouts.
Chestnit Tree House will put the money towards specialist sessions for children in the hydrotherapy pool, providing lasting memories with their families.
The scouts will use their grant for equipment towards a sailing expedition.
Saxon Weald’s Chairman, David Avery, said: “Voluntary and not-for-profit groups like these need support more than ever before and Saxon Weald is proud to help them.
“Their hard work not only benefits our residents but the wider community.”
Grants are made annually. For more information on Saxon Weald’s Community Grant Scheme for 2012/2013 contact the public relations and marketing team on 01403 226013 or email PRfirstname.lastname@example.org
