Grand surprise for pub regular

A PUB regular received a ‘grand’ surprise when he was presented with £1,000 after giving feedback on the Sussex Barn pub in Horsham.

Robin Whenham visits the North Heath Lane pub at least once a week.

On this occasion he was treating his wife Sheila and granddaughters Tia, 13, and Georgia, 11, to a family meal out and was so delighted with the experience they received that he gave feedback through the pub’s Guest Recommends Survey.

By providing feedback guests are entered into a monthly £1,000 prize draw from the combined entries of 800 Spirit Pub Company pubs.

Robin said: “I always give feedback but I’ve never received such a great reward for doing so.

“My wife and I have decided to use the money to treat the girls to a trip to the Cape Verde Islands in August next year.

“It’s a place we both love and visit regularly but have not had the opportunity to take the girls; with this win we can afford it and they are at the right age to appreciate it.”

Duty manager at the Sussex Barn, Vivien Nicholls said: “We know Robin and his family very well and encouraged him to give feedback highlighting that he could win £1000 – and he did.

“Not only is it great for Robin but also for the team - I’ve noticed a renewed motivation in our team players doing their utmost to deliver outstanding service and prompting guests to fill the survey in.

“We think the Guest Recommends Survey is a cracking way to gauge how guests are feeling about us on a regular basis.
