A GARDEN and local produce fair due to take place at Billingshurst next week has been cancelled due to heavy rain.
The showcase of local plants and produce had been planned to take place at Summers Place, Stane Street, on Thursday May 17 in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice new horizons appeal.
Sue Crofts, a volunteer organiser for the fair, said: “So much work goes into organising the fair that it was a very hard decision to make to cancel but we had no choice as the grounds are just too wet for vehicles and visitors.
“We apologise to everyone who was looking forward to the fair, and we are obviously very sad not to be raising money for the Hospice. As gardeners we had all been hoping for rain - just not quite this much!”
People that have purchased tickets for the event can now use them for the autumn gift fair at Knepp Castle, Shipley, during preview night on Wednesday September 19.
Sue said: “We would like to thank Berkeley Homes, Summers Place Auctions and Strutt and Parker for their tremendous support and hope to see all our loyal supporters next year.”
