THAKEHAM gardeners club held their summer show with a range of great results.
Held on Saturday, members and friends of the club presented their entries and despite the varied weather they were rewarded with cups and vouchers for their efforts.
All of the floral arrangements were excellent. Jean East won the Tom Dolman Cup and Sandra Jenkins created an arrangement depicting an ice cream sundae which won her the voucher from sponsor the Village Florist.
The club appreciates all the support received from their sponsors who include The Plant Company, the Village Florist, the Village Nurseries, Gatleys, Shoots, Old Barn nursery, Waitrose and Parham Park.
The star of the show was Anita Darlington who won the Linfield Cup for the most first prizes, she won three cups in total but her Achilles heel was the rooted fuchsia cutting provided by the Village Nurseries where she was awarded the booby prize.
Other winners included Kay Clarke, Rita Benton, June and Ernest Wright, Maureen Sherwood, Doreen Thomson, and Patricia Wilks.
The best exhibit in the art section was a pencil pastel drawing by Jean Westrip. There were fewer entries in the photographer section but the cup was won by Rita Benton and Patricia Wilks won the Country Past times cup for the best exhibit in the handicraft section.
The club meets on the second Monday of every month in Thakeham Village Hall at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome, for more information contact Chairman Robert Benton 01403 741576.
