The funeral of Sussex footballing legend Wilf Hugill will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 25.
Worthing resident Wilf died on Tuesday, March 10, after battling Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. He was 75.
During a long career, Wilf was captain of Horsham, Worthing and Eastbourne United, in addition to the Sussex Football Association, which he also managed.
A minute’s silence was held before Horsham’s home game against Whitstable at the weekend.
Wilf’s funeral will be held at Worthing Crematorium and will be a celebration of his life.
Sonia, his wife of 49 years, said: “If people would like to come and celebrate with us, they are more than welcome. And if people want to wear their football shirts, let them.”
