Storrington-based charity West Chanctonbury Recreation Association (WCRA) has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.

Trading as Impulse Leisure, the charity was awarded £4,384 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The charity will use the money to make improvements to its outside ball court including resurfacing, new markings and nets.

They wanted to improve the existing ball court to facilitate sports such as football, basketball, netball, hockey and handball.

They are also currently applying for funding to develop walking football and basketball groups for the over 50’s and people with injuries and the works to the ball court will also contribute to these proposed activities.

Jez Charlton, Centre Manger says “The improvements to our existing ball court will mean more people in our local community can take part in leisure activities.

“This will give them greater opportunity to increase their wellbeing, self-confidence and reduce any social isolation they may be experiencing, particularly for the older members of our community.”.

People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery, where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes.

As a charity lottery, 50p from every £2 ticket goes to support charities and good causes across England, Scotland and Wales, including People’s Postcode Trust. People’s Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised stays local to players.
