A HORSE had to be rescued by firefighters yesterday evening (Wednesday, August 12) shortly after 7.30pm when he got stuck up to his neck in a muddy bog on farmland off Fittleworth Road, in Wisborough Green.

A specialist team from the Sussex Fire and Rescue technical rescue unit winched Acer out of the bog using their new unimog vehicle and animal rescue equipment.

The horse was then escorted back to his stables around 10.45pm and checked over by a vet who gave him a clean bill of health.
