Around £20,000 has been poured into a facelift at Horsham Rugby Club. The clubhouse refurbishment comes just after the team celebrated their 40th anniversary.

The upgrade includes new furniture, flooring and lighting as well as developments to the physio room.

Chris Wright, club chairman, told the County Times that none of this would have been possible without the generous donations from the Horsham community.

He said: “Sponsors such as Henry Adams and Hepworth Brewery, the time and effort through club members and contractors we feel we have created a better clubhouse for both the public and players.

“Without them we couldn’t have done it. They’ve been very generous.”

But the newly refurbished clubhouse is not only available to members.

“A lot of hard work has gone into it, it’s great for rugby and is a nice little venue and environment for parties,” said John O’Sullivan, bar manager.

“People seem to forget it’s there and we want to get everyone coming over for their 18th or 21st birthdays, weddings, discos, work functions etc.

“It’s right out the way so you can make as much noise as you want, and there are no strict rules or curfews. Plus I’m there and you couldn’t ask for anyone better really.”

The club are offering hire for £150 rather than the usual £250 if you book and pay by the end of October.
