ASHINGTON Parish Council may change its mind about a bid for a second barn at Mitchbourne Farm, in Malthouse Lane. It had previously objected to the plans because it considered barn was unecessary given the amount of land to be farmed.
But new information has shown that the actual amount of land was larger than the parish council was aware. It has been decided that a site visit to look at hay storage and land area would be made, and if all was in order, the parish council’s previous objection to Horsham District Council would be withdrawn.
In the interim, Horsham District Council has refused permission for the oak-framed agricultural barn to house hay and agricultural products and a small farm office.
An appeal has been lodged against the refusal and this will be done by written representations, to reach the Planning Inspectorate at Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Bristol by March 20.
