Red Nose Day is back on Friday, March 15 and many events are taking place in and around the district to help change lives across Africa and the UK.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Comic Relief which has raised more than £600m by ‘doing something funny for money.’

B52’s in Piries Place will have staff in stocks in front of the bar, from 5pm on Friday, for visitors to throw wet sponges at and donate money.

They are also open for the public to get involved as well if their friends and family want to donate money to nominate them. All donations will be going to Comic Relief and all staff members will be wearing Red Nose Day t-shirts.

Generate Youth Club in Storrington is hosting a Comic Relief evening from 7pm-9pm in Trinity Methodist Hall to raise funds.

The club will be holding a bush tucker trial, which will be a challenge for kids who favour conventional foods, with some edible but unusual foods in the pipe line.

They also plan to film a fancy dress Harlem Shake to put on YouTube.

Wabi Horsham is serving two special cocktails on Red Nose Day with 50p donated for every ‘Follow your nose’ cocktail ordered and 25p for every ‘Amaranth’ non alcoholic cocktail ordered.

Zumba Sussex will be donating money at its Zumba Class at 7pm at Millais School. Dress code of red with all welcome to attend.

Rosedale Care Home in Horsham is holding a Red Nose tea party with a red raffle and tombola. It is also sponsoring two staff members to wear something outrageous. It is open to resident’s families, staff and friends.

Steyning Grammar School Sixth Form College students will be holding a red nosed gingerbread men sale, taking a baked bean bath, singing karaoke and the football team will be having their legs waxed to raise money for the cause.

On April 12, Splendid Occasions is hosting the ‘Let’s Barn Dance for Comic Relief’ at the Barn in The Causeway, Horsham, from 7pm until 11pm.

There will be a live band with caller, cash bar, light supper and a raffle.

Tickets are £12.50 adults only and are available from Pretty Things, Park Place, Horsham.

Dee Child of Splendid Occasions, said: “Splendid Occasions has been up and running since July 2011 so I decided that it was time to do something for charity this year and give all the money we raise to the both Comic Relief and St Barnabas Hospice who I am offering my services free of charge for their 40th Anniversary Vintage Tea Party.

“We have been given lots of raffle prize from local businesses, so this event is being organised by a Horsham based company asking Horsham based companies to help.”
