CASH-strapped Horsham District Council is facing a new round of cuts after a worse than expected grant settlement from the coalition Government this week.
On Monday, after weeks of speculation, the Government notified every council how much its grant would be cut over the next two financial years.
Both Horsham District Council and neighbouring Waverley Borough Council in Surrey will have to find further savings on top of the millions already laid out in plans based on estimates.
Since HDC does not receive a high portion of its income from government grants, leaders did not think it would be affected as badly as other councils.
But this week’s announcement revealed the grant reduction will be higher than the council predicted when setting out its savings proposals in October.
