A developer has appealed the council’s decision to reject plans for 160 homes in Henfield.

Horsham District Council turned down Barratt Homes’ bid for the houses off West End Lane in late August.

Now the housebuilder has appealed the decision, and it will be heard by the Government’s planning inspector.

In August councillors said the application was ‘speculative’ and unanimously rejected it on the grounds of overdevelopment in a rural location.

On Tuesday HDC’s planners approved 102 homes east of Manor Close. For a full report on this meeting see today’s West Sussex County Times South Downs edition.
