Two Horsham based day care clubs for people with dementia; Music for the Memory and Careful Hands Day Clubs, have teamed together to put on a Carers Afternoon on Thursday August 23 at St John’s Community Hall.
The event, on Church Lane, Broadbridge Heath from 12.15pm till 4pm, will include entertainment from the Clever Cavaliers.
Lyn Coleman, director of Careful Hands Ltd said: “This is an amazing troupe of dancing dogs that are so cute!”
The event is to provide carers of those living with dementia with information and support, with speakers from WSCC Prevention Assessment Team team, The Carers Support Charity and The NHS Older Persons Mental Health Team.
“Our club’s RGN and all the contributing experts will get together in one room and pass ‘the floor’ to the Carers so that they have a great opportunity to fire away with all their ‘personal care’ concerns queries and issues.”
The two day care clubs will be announcing a new Dementia Therapy – CST – programme which will be launched this year and is being put in to place at the clubs in order to help with Care Planning that needs to be in place for those benefiting from the current emphasis on earlier diagnosis.
This NICE recommended therapy is evidenced to benefit those who can’t be prescribed medications such as Aricept as well as those who can.
