A 26-year-old man has been jailed after a cyclist died in a collision on the A29 in Pulborough on Friday evening (September 27).

Samuel Kirk, 26, of Billingshurst, appeared in Worthing Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday September 30) charged with driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said Kirk has been jailed for 20 weeks for driving whilst disqualified.

The force said inquiries were continuing in connection with allegations against Kirk of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at a road collision, failing to report an accident, driving while being under the influence of drugs and causing a death while driving an unlicensed, uninsured car while being disqualified.

He has been bailed until January 15 2014 while investigations continue.
