In a bid to reduce crime such as bag thefts, purse bells - a theft deterrent - were handed out along with leaflets offering crime prevention advice.

Chairman of Horsham NHW Andrew Moffat said: “The Horsham District may be one of the safest in the country but the police and NHW intend to keep it this way and make it even safer for residents and visitors alike.”

Mr Moffat said the police and neighbourhood watch hope to tackle issues such as shoplifting and bag thefts, particularly in the run-up to Christmas.
