Man scams Barns Green Post Office out of £650

A man scammed the Barns Green Village Store and Post Office out of £650, say police.

Officers have launched an appeal to find the man after the theft in Chapel Road on Tuesday April 8.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police received a report that a man had gone into Barns Green Post Office in Chapel Road, Barns Green, Horsham, on Tuesday (8 April) at 4.15pm and had asked to change £700 worth of £20 pound notes into £10 pound notes.

“He then asked again to change the money into different denominations and possibly euros. When staff cashed up the tills they found they had been scammed out of £650.

“The man is described as Asian, in his early 30s, of average build, with short dark brown hair which was thinning at the front. He was wearing a black leather jacket, lilac shirt, black trousers and spoke with a foreign accent.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting serial 1395 of 08/04.”
