Horsham town centre shop window smashed by vandals

Vandals smashed the shop window of the AGA store in Market Square, Horsham, in the early hours of Monday morning (July 21).

Manager Pauline Hadfield said she received a ‘nasty shock’ when she found two police officers waiting outside the store on Monday.

She added that the development of a number of restaurants and bars in the area had attracted more ‘rowdy’ customers to the town centre.

She said: “It is a nasty shock when you have two policemen waiting for you in the morning. We have just had the shop refitted - perhaps someone didn’t like our display!

“It is lovely the restaurants and bars are bringing trade to this area but obviously it is bringing rowdy people into the vicinity.

“Horsham isn’t that kind of town.”

A spokesperson for Horsham police said police received a report of a smashed shop window at AGA at about 7am on Monday.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting serial 0239 of 21/07.
