The incident took place in North Street, opposite Horsham Railway Station, at around 3.45pm.

One man, a 57-year-old from Henfield, had fallen to the ground and was being kicked by the other man, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said.

Emergency services including a paramedic car and an ambulance attended the scene.

The Henfield man sustained a bloody nose, but a spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said he declined hospital treatment.

A 34-year-old man from Mannings Heath was arrested on suspicion of assault but later released without charge.
