Police have appealed for witnesses after a young Crawley woman fought off man who tried to rape her after she left Moka nightclub.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the woman, who was in her 20s, left the nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 6) around 3am.

She spoke to a man she had met outside the club and ended up walking with him on Station Way.

He pushed her into the bin area of the carpark of the Regus offices on Station Way where he tried to rape her.

The woman pushed him off and managed to run away.

Detective constable Karrie Bohanna said: “The victim has described him as having olive skin and possibly being European and in his late 20s or early 30s. He has short dark spikey hair and a short beard. We are making sure the victim is supported as she is understandably distressed by what happened.”

People with information were asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 255 of 06/09.
