A NEW chairman has been elected by West Sussex County Council.
Mike Coleman took on the role on Friday (May 13), succeeding Mark Dunn, who held the post since 2008.
Warnham and Rusper councillor Mick Hodgson continues as vice chairman.
Mr Coleman has been a member of the county council since 2001, representing the Nyetimber division. His wife Christina is also a county councillor.
He is a former Deputy Leader of the council and his most recent appointment has been chairman of the Corporate Parenting Panel.
A former member of Arun District Council, he spent 27 years with IBM involving work in the UK, Europe and the USA.
In 1998 he set-up his own communications consultancy business, in which he has worked with many international companies.
A Trustee of the Chichester Harbour Trust and supporter of the West Sussex Army Benevolent Fund, his hobbies include classic cars and information technology.
The outgoing chairman Mark Dunn is a company director with experience of international management consultancy specialising in insurance and marketing.
He served on West Sussex County Council from 1997, and is also a member of Chichester District Council, the Regional Flood Defence and Environment Protection Advice Committee, the South Downs Joint Committee and was Chairman of the Sussex Police Authority.
