The Conservatives retained the West Sussex county council division of Warnham and Rusper beating off the UKIP challenge yesterday (Thursday October 24).
Liz Kitchen, a current Horsham district councillor and former leader, took more than half of the total votes (868), out of a turnout of 20.08 per cent.
UKIP’s Geoff Stevens came second (335), the Green Party’s Darrin Green third (119) the Liberal Democrats’ Tony Millson fourth (103), and Labour’s Carol Hayton fifth (65).
The by-election was called after the sad death of Mick Hodgson in August.
