Senior choristers from Christ’s Hospital School were at Derry’s Guildhall on Sunday June 26 as the historic building’s newly restored organ was unveiled amidst a fanfare of choral song and celebration at the Gloria Concert. Hosted by Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with The Honourable the Irish Society, the event featured some of the finest singers and musicians in a classical musical showcase perfectly set against the beautiful backdrop of the newly renovated Guildhall’s Main Hall. Christ’s Hospital choristers joined world-renowned organist Catherine Ennis, the Codetta Choir and St Mary’s College, Derry, to perform part of Francis Poulenc’s Gloria, specially arranged by Catherine Ennis. Donal Doherty conducted and there were special Shakespearean readings by Sir Roger Gifford of the City of London.
