Dame Vera Lynn widely known as the forces sweetheart during the second world war has managed to capture the heart of a local beauty, Jade Power.

Jade who was crowned Miss Sussex in 2013 and whose reign continues until March 2014 was taken aback by the work the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy do that she immediately signed up as an Ambassador for the award winning charity.

Steven Lane, Chief Executive for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust commented “as an Ambassador Jade will promote The Dame Vera Lynn Trust through many of her promotional activities and support us at some of our events like the charity Golf Day at Manning’s Heath on the 16th May. We are all delighted Jade is joining our charity.”

“ Already Jade is hard at work for she will be raising funds on the 29th March at the 2014 Miss Sussex Final. “

Jade won the Miss Sussex title in April 2013 after dazzling the judges at the final held at Brighton Racecourse. She went on to represent Sussex at the Miss England Finals in Torquay in June, placing in the Top 15, of both the Miss Eco round and the Miss England Final, and doing Sussex proud.

Jade, who is now a professional show-jumper and model, has used her reign to highlight the effects of bullying amongst teenagers.

Jade speaks frankly about how she was forced to leave school early due to being bullied herself and find her own way in to the sport she loves so much.

On BBC Radio Sussex Jade talked about how her horses saw her through the most difficult times in her life and how they gave her the confidence to go on and compete, not just in show-jumping competitions, but in the world of beauty.
