SWIMMERS from the Atlantis Swim Club held a car wash fundraising event at the Pavilions in the Park leisure centre in Horsham earlier this month.

The group of enthusiastic swimmers held the fundraising event on Saturday June 16 to raise money for the swimmers’ training camp that is being held in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands in October this year.

The event was very successful and the group of 15 children worked non stop cleaning around 40 cars in four hours after completing a 2.5 hour swim at 6am that same morning.

Organiser Allison Hartley would like to thank all the parents who helped out as well as those parents who came out especially to support the event and get their cars cleaned and the lovely parent who bought coffees and biscuits for the adult helpers.

Allison said: “The event would not have been so smooth running without the help and support of Horsham District Council, staff at Pavilions in the Park and h2no car valeting company.”

Originally h2no, which is based in Swan Walk car park in Horsham town centre, was going to supply the event with its eco-friendly waterless car cleaning materials but due to the unpredictable weather Atlantis had to resort to traditional methods.

Despite this, Paul from h2no still came along and helped out.

The children raised £172 towards the target and are hoping to hold another car washing day soon. Staff from Horsham District Council and h2no helped support the event.
