Horsham defender Richie Byrne believed his side had more than enough chances to pick up a much needed result against Whyteleafe on Saturday.

The home side went down 3-1 after conceding two early goals, but had plenty of chances to equaliser after Gregg Berry pulled a goal back on the half-hour mark.

But the Hornets failed to take their chances and Jason Thompson headed home Leafe’s third from a corner with eight minutes remaining.

Byrne said: “When we got the goal back we dominated them. They couldn’t get out of their half.

“We got the goal back and that put us back in the chase. We definitely had a win in us.

“I made a mistake for the first goal and another mistake led to their second goal which puts them 2-1 up.

They relaxed a bit which put us back in the game. We had so many chances.

“They relaxed a bit which put us back in the game. We had so many chances.

“They didn’t really have many clear-cut chances. It would have been different if we had been out-played.”
