The signs read “This shop is now closed” and directs customers to their nearest store in East Grinstead.

A spokesman for Ladbrokes said: “Earlier this year, we conducted a scheduled review of our presence in the area and concluded that this particular shop was no longer commercially viable.

“There have been no job losses.”

A few units down Boots Opticians, next door to Rush Hairdressers, has also closed.

In January the retailer announced plans to merge both its opticians stores in West Street, which would see the closure of the unit.

A spokesman said all staff and patients would be relocated to the other store, next to Wimpy.

Signs in the store confirm the shop has moved to its new location.

It has not been confirmed who is taking over the empty units.
