A controversial Horsham shop selling fake guns, mobile phone accessories, toys, luggage and bedding in West Street has closed down.

Street Value Gift Shop, caused several complaints last year for the sale of toy guns, and was the repeated target of shoplifters in 2012.

Ricky Juneja, former manager of Street Value gift shop, said the shop had experienced shoplifting ever since it had opened.

The shop came under fire from district councillor Laurence Deakins (Con, Denne), who said the shop was inappropriate for Horsham and out of character with the rest of the town.

He had received numerous complaints from the public about the items on sale.

The premises are now empty with no sign of a replacement shop as yet.
