Incentive scheme welcomed

A BUSINESS incentive scheme designed to boost the Horsham economy has been welcomed.

HBiS (Horsham Business Incentive Scheme) provides local businesses and its employees with special deals.

It was officially launched at the Business Builder Club in Horsham during September.

Town economy chief Roger Paterson (Con, Pulborough and Coldwaltham) said: "We fully support the initiative of these Horsham based service companies and eagerly anticipate the scheme's success and its expansion to include both retail and catering businesses in the town.

"The principle of encouraging more local trade through the keep it local message is particularly relevant in these times and one which the council itself will become increasingly active in promoting, both directly and by endorsing initiatives such as this. "Accordingly, I was also pleased to hear that the council has itself applied for cards for all of its staff and members to further encourage them to support the local economy and keep it local."

The free scheme works by providing members with preferential terms on services from HBiS partner providers.

These are available using a personal 'HBiS card' given to employees who join the scheme.

Employers complete an online form giving the number of employees, which in turn generates production of the appropriate number of HBiS cards for buying products and services from HBiS partners.

HBiS founding partner and director of Mortgage Solutions, Clive Hancocks, said: "The scheme aims to give tangible benefits to employers and employees of local firms while at the same time increasing business volumes for the service providers.

"I believe the 'Keep it Local' message will strike a chord with both local employers and their employees throughout the town and prove to be something we can all benefit from."

Firms outside of Horsham have already shown an interest in starting up similar schemes to encourage more local inter-trading between businesses and their staff.

As the scheme grows, additional partners will be invited to join, including restaurants and other leisure based areas.

HBiS founding partners are: The Brand Doctor, Cathryn Hindle Business Coaching, Deakin Fine Wine, Foundry Press, Leaders, Montessori Nursery Care, Mortgage Solutions Limited, Rawlison Butler LLP Solicitors, Spofforths Chartered Accountants, The Croxby Company editorial services and public relations and Woodlands Estate Agents.
