Sussex Building Control and its clients picked up eight awards in the 2014 ceremony run by the public sector planning industry’s trade body.

The Local Authority Building Control’s South East Building Excellence Awards recognise and reward construction excellence – acknowledging the skills and expertise required to deliver buildings that are safe and comfortable for people to use.

Sussex Building Control provides the building control service for Horsham District Council and also Crawley Borough Council. It gives expert advice to homeowners, architects and developers to help them build safe, comfortable and accessible buildings.

The winning categories for businesses in the Horsham district were:

- Best Customer Partnership with a Local Authority category was won by Sussex Building Control and Jones Lang LaSalle.

- LABC Site Supervisor of the Year was won by Carl White from Croudace Homes and he was also Highly Commended in the Best High Volume New Housing Development category for The Croft at Thakeham

- Local architect, Helen Gaffney of Gaffney Architecture, was Highly Commended for Warleys at Plummers Plain, Horsham in the Individual New Dwelling category

Commenting on the success, Claire Vickers, cabinet member for living and working communities at Horsham District Council, said: “It is great to see Sussex Building Control win these awards and it is wonderful that they have had such excellent success again this year.

“This is the fourth year running that Sussex Building Control has won the Best Partnership category which just goes to show how excellent they are at relationship management.”
