Horsham-based Assurity Consulting, an independent consultancy specialising in workplace health, safety and environmental solutions, says it is leading the way in Legionella management.
The company, in Redkiln Way, has an in-house laboratory where their own team of microbiologists currently process around 35,000 of their customer’s air and water quality samples per annum.
They have become the first organisation in the UK to combine UKAS accreditations for legionella risk assessment to BS 8580:2010 with water sampling, transportation and testing for Legionella.
The combined standards mean the company now occupies the unique position in the marketplace of offering its customers even more practical evidence of management control, minimising business and reputation risks.
Greg Davies, head of service development for Assurity Consulting, said: “We have held ISO 17025 (sampling, transportation and testing) accreditation for many years, and to complement this with the recently introduced ISO 17020 (inspection) accreditation for Legionella risk assessments was a natural progression.

Reported cases of Legionnaires’ disease number around 300 per year in the UK, although recent articles in the press have highlighted everything from compost and windscreen washers to cooling towers and showers can present a risk.
