A BEAUTIFUL hand drawn picture of a sunflower has won 12 year old Serena Toovey from Coolham first prize in the FenchFest – French Flowers of the Field Competition.

The contest was organised by the County Times in partnership with Beales department store in the Forum, Horsham, where Serena now has a £50 voucher to be spent on Lego.

Store director Stephen Deller judged the many paintings and drawings received, stating the quality was ‘fantastic’.

“It was very difficult to choose the three winning entries,” said Stephen, “but after a considerable amount of deliberation we came up with the final three.”

The second prize and third prize of £15 and £5 Lego vouchers have been won by 13 year old Ryan White from Broadbridge Heath, and Zoe Bacon, aged 11, from Southwater. Ryan also drew a yellow sunflower, whilst Zoe opted to paint a big red poppy.

The three winning entries will now be displayed in the café restaurant upstairs at Beales, along with a selection of the many other colourful paintings and drawing we received from youngsters under 16.

The County Times would like to congratulate all those who took the time to enter the competition, especially our winners Serena, Ryan and Zoe. In addition to Lego vouchers, their parents will also receive a Beales discount voucher.
