Horsham District Council - which owns the site - has confirmed the new leisure centre will be opening at 9am on October 20 with the current centre shutting on Wednesday October 17.

Current gym users will be able to visit other council-owned leisure centre’s throughout the three-day transition between the centres including The Pavilions in the Park, Billinghust Leisure Centre and Steyning Leisure Centre.

The closing of the current centre will also see the loss of all but 30m of the indoor athletics facility known as The Tube.

The proposals faced huge backlash from users and athletic stars such as Jade Lally who used the ‘invaluable’ facility to train throughout the year.
