DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Brighton man Gary Hampson have made a further arrest in connection with the case this morning (Friday).
A 66-year-old woman from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to Brighton Custody Centre for questioning.
A search and forensic examination of her home is being carried out.
Specialist teams had been searching 16 sites - including Cowfold, Henfield, Bolney, Ashurst and Dial Post - for the missing 42-year-old from Portslade.
But officers are now focusing on the area north of Cowfold along the ‘A281 corridor’ to the Sussex/Surrey border.
Detective Chief Inspector Jeff Riley, who is heading the Sussex Police Major Crime Branch enquiry, said: “This is a very active investigation and my team and I are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.
“We are determined to find Gary’s body and the process of searching has to be carefully planned and a scientific approach taken to ensure that the most likely locations are properly identified and then are subject to a detailed and methodical search.
