Holidaymakers were delayed on a British Airways flight from Gatwick due to a ‘bog roll shortage’.
The airline apologised to customers as flight BA2153 to Barbados was delayed after ‘items needed for the flight’ were not loaded onto the aircraft.
National media reported it was due to take off on Sunday afternoon (March 5) but did not leave the airport until later that evening, arriving in Bridgetown five-and-a-half hours behind schedule.
A return flight was also delayed with passengers arriving at Gatwick in the early hours of Monday.
Passengers took to Twitter to vent their anger.
Bill Murray said: “@British_Airways Utter shambles BA2153 can’t depart due to bog roll shortage. 4hrs & counting.”
Paul Kaye added: “@British_Airways BA2153 severely delayed because they forgot the loo rolls!”
British Airways said: “We are sorry customers were delayed after some of the many items needed for the flight weren’t loaded on to the aircraft.
“We gave customers refreshment vouchers so they could get something to eat and drink in the terminal and we got them away on their holidays as soon as we could.”
