Billingshurst end ‘indifferent’ season with defeat

Billingshurst ended an ‘indifferent’ season in Division 3 on Saturday with a disappointing defeat to Burgess Hill & Hurst Albion.

Only Tom Betts, Oli Leslie and Ben Brooker remained from the side that started the season in a depleted squad left shorter by Nick Tilley and Jake Chadwick’s recent moves to East Preston.

Declan Rapley put Billingshurst ahead in the 14th minute, but after the visitors levelled soon after, they went on the secure a comfortable 5-1 win as Nick Boutal netted a hat-trick.

Billingshurst boss Mark Betts said: “We finished as we started, with a disappointing defeat and the word indifferent just about sums up the season.”

Hurst will finish fifth or sixth in the table depending on the result in Ifield’s final game this weekend.
