On Friday September 19 the residents, staff and friends of Cedar Court Care Home, Cranleigh, marked World Alzheimer’s month with a balloon launch to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.
Guest of honour, High Sheriff of Surrey, Peter Lee released the first balloon which was followed by 250 blue and white balloons sent into the Cranleigh sky by residents, relatives, staff and friends of the Home.
Over £750 was raised at this third annual event which is now an important date in the Cranleigh diary.
The High Sheriff, dressed in ceremonial attire, spoke with many of the residents throughout the afternoon and said: “It was a pleasure to visit Cedar Court and to participate in the balloon launch. Cedar Court is a special place which not only provides excellent, modern facilities but also genuine care and support for its residents who remain very much part of the local community.”
The talented singer Emma Hall performed a collection of songs that the audience sang along to and appreciated with great applause.
Michael Gains, activities coordinator commented: “Today was extra special for our residents. To see so many friends of the Home come together and give so generously demonstrates how committed our community is to supporting Alzheimer’s Society and the great work they do.”
