Author launches guide to writing and marketing a bestselling book

80 movers and shakers from the local business community and further afield gathered at Slinfold Golf and Country Club to celebrate the launch of Horsham author, Dee Blick’s fourth book: The Ultimate Guide to Writing and Marketing a Bestselling Book - on a Shoestring Budget.

Speakers included Dee’s publisher, Chris Day from Filament Publishing, PR book publicist and author Jeff Scott and author Janice B Gordon.

However the undoubted star of the evening was Harvey Betts, a 12-year-old who attends the Weald School in Billingshurst. Harvey introduced Dee, speaking eloquently without notes.

The icing on the cake was delivered by local cake artisan and Horsham Bake Off judge Sharon Walker who created a show stopping centrepiece.

“It was an amazing evening,” said Dee. “The room was absolutely packed and there was a real buzz in the air. I can’t thank my speakers enough, especially Harvey who was just incredible.

“How many young men of his age would be confident and accomplished enough to stand up and speak in front of such a large audience and without notes?

“I think he melted the hearts of every person that attended and he is most definitely a star in the making.

“I met Harvey a few years ago at a local business exhibition with his Mum, Kirstie Betts of Pied A Terre Adventures. He was drumming up support for their Stand and, we struck up a lovely friendship not least because there is definitely a book in Harvey.

“I was thrilled therefore when he agreed to be a speaker at my book launch.”

Dee’s latest book is available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback and has already received positive critical acclaim and several five-star reviews, reaching the top 5 in the Amazon bestsellers.

“I created the strap line: ‘If there is a book in you, this is the book for you,’ to encourage authors of fiction and non-fiction to write the book that’s been in their head for so many years.

“I’m really hoping my book will set them on the road to success,” said Dee.
