Burgess Hill Artists celebrated it first exhibition last weekend at The Cherry Tree Centre in Fairfield Road.
It was started by a small group of local artists as a regeneration of the Burgess Hill Open Studios. Gradually more artists got involved and the exhibition presented the work of 17 artists including paintings, jewellery and mosaic pieces.
The busy preview evening was attended by 150 guests who appreciated the variety of art on show.
The visitors were asked to vote for their favorite painting. The winner was Heather Withers with her painting ‘Market Day’.
She received a prize from local business Get Crafty, sponsor of the event. Artist Hannah Behrens came runner up with her beautifully detailed line drawing “Dreamland”.
Age UK run The Cherry Tree Centre and provide activities and services for the over 50s in Burgess Hill. The centres art club run by artist Billy Bond exhibited their work.
The exhibition also showcased GCSE art pieces from Oakmeads Community College. The exhibition aims to bring together three generations of creative talent in the community.
