West Sussex County Council is keen to see street parties taking place on the big day, but is asking for advance notice to make sure things like road closures can be properly organised.
Deputy Leader of the county council Lionel Barnard, who has responsibility for Highways and Transport, said: “With around a month to go before the big day it is vital that people act now if they are planning an event.
“The sooner people let us know about their plans the easier it will be to check all the relevant arrangements are in place. Then all people need to worry about on the day is enjoying themselves!”
If anyone is planning a street party they should contact their local district or borough council in the first instance.
The county council is advising people to give at least four weeks’ notice of an event.
To find out more on how to plan a street party visit the county council’s advice pages on its website at www.westsussex.gov.uk and search ‘Highway Licences’.
The county council estimates around 50 street parties are already planned in West Sussex for April 29.
