The animals at Swains Farm Shop and Garden Centre in Henfield were out to welcome visitors over the weekend despite the heavy rain across
Sussex.

Located in Brighton Road, Woodmancote, the family business stocks fresh produce and seasonal vegetables and is open seven days a week.

Many families and visitors braved the weather to feed the animals which include alpacas, donkeys, goats, ponies, geese and chickens, with two free carrots per person from the farm shop.

Aside from vegetables, the farm shop stocks homemade biscuits, cakes and products from well-known brands.

Local goods are also available including brownies by Just Brownies, Horsham, meat from Warnham butchers, milk and ice cream from Downsview Farm in East Sussex, honey, jam and chutney from Paynes Bee Farm in Hassocks with freshly-squeezed orange juice made on site.

The garden centre stocks trees, shrubs, roses, climbers and hedging plants, plus bedding plants which offer a splash of colour regardless of the season.

Currently, Swains is running a competition to carve the best pumpkin in Sussex.

Whether you’re eight or 80, the pumpkin (and it must be a pumpkin) doesn’t have to be scary but it must be your own original design.

The winner will receive a ‘Trick or Treat’ hamper filled with goodies from the range of Halloween products available to buy in store.

To enter, email a photo of your pumpkin to competitions@swainsfarmshop.co.uk with your name and age. Their favourite photos will be uploaded to the Swains Farm Shop Facebook page. More information at: www.swainsfarmshop.co.uk
