Andy proving handy for Roffey as TD Ship are sunk
Striker Andy Lampard bagged a hat-trick as Roffey won 4-1 away at TD Shipley on Saturday.
Chris Copestake was also on target as Roffey claimed their first league win for over a month.
Praising his three-goal hero Lampard, who has scored eight league goals so far having signed from Forest, manager Dan Redman said: “Andy’s in the team to score goals, that’s what he does. As long as we’re creating chances he’ll be on the end of them, he scores more than he misses and he’s been good for us.”
Roffey stopper Mike Norris made a couple of early saves before Redman’s side settled and began creating chances of their own.
And they took the lead after 25 minutes when Lampard spun a defender and finished coolly.
Two minutes later the lead was doubled, Charlie Hodgson and Harry Roadley combined well and the former whipped a ball across the six yard box for Copestake to slot in.
Lampard scored his second and Roffey’s third just before half time, and although TD reduced the deficit, Lampard scored a fine header from a free kick to seal all the points.
Redman said: “We’re still in two cups but I hope we can push on from this now in the league and go on a bit of a run.”
Roffey: Norris; Mitchell-Harris, Webb, Jeal, Spence (Standing 77); Hodgson (Matthews 65), Powell, Roadley, Copestake; Lampard, Dumbrill (Barber 70).
