Colletts Alley remains closed to the public five days after a fire damaged a popular Horsham town centre fish and chip shop.

Repair work is ongoing inside Deep Blue restaurant, following a blaze on the first day of Piazza Italia on Good Friday (April 3).

A short statement on Deep Blue’s website states that the restaurant will be closed for around a week.

Staff quickly evacuated the building and Piazza Italia volunteers set up a cordon after the fire broke out in a chip fryer at around 1.40pm.

Firefighters found the shop heavily smoke logged but were able to extinguish the flames, which had spread to the ventilation system.

Nobody was injured and no Ferraris parked near the entrance to Colletts Alley were damaged.
