All you need to know about Horsham Lidl plans

Councillors are set to decide on whether to approve plans to build a new Lidl store in Horsham next week.

The German retailer is looking to create a new supermarket at the former Dreams site in Foundry Lane.

The proposals have been recommended for approval and are set to be discussed at Horsham District Council’s Planning Committee North on Tuesday October 2.

Here’s a break down of the key points in the plans:

- The current buildings on the site will be demolished and replaced with a new two-storey building with 1,616m² floor space and a fully glazed shop front facing onto the Horsham Gates roundabout

- The sales area in the new supermarket will be 1,000m²

- 51 parking spaces will be created, three of which will be disabled spaces and two will be parent and child. There will also be two motorcycle spaces as well as bicycle storage

- The store will offer more than 1,800 different product lines

- Up to 40 new jobs will be created

- The proposed opening times would be 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday

- The store will be serviced by two to three deliveries a day.

- Ten letters of objection have been received along with an objection from Waitrose

- Twenty letters of support have been submitted to Horsham District Council and an online petition in support of the store has gained more than 8,000 signatures
